Club Committees
The Lincoln Club has several committees that are open to all members. Committees are a great way to meet other members and to get involved in various Club activities. To join, members can simply attend a meeting or contact the committee chairman to get involved.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for new member recruitment and membership retention activities. Chairman: Pat Maciariello
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee is responsible for communicating the Club’s activities, initiatives, and positions to outside audiences, as well as helping foster communication about Club activities amongst the general membership, through the Club’s website, newsletter, press releases, and other communications materials. Meets last Wednesday of the month at 5:15 pm. Location: Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, 3161 Michelson Dr., 12th Floor, Irvine. Chairman: Dan Baren
Issues Committee
Members research and track specific public policy issues that the Club has identified as priorities for each election cycle. This committee updates the Board about such issues and works with the Communications Committee on opportunities to publicize the Club’s issue positions. Meets last Thursday of the month at 5:15 pm. Location: Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, 3161 Michelson Dr., 12th Floor, Irvine. Chairwoman: Kathy Gremer.
Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee makes recommendations to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors regarding the propositions placed on the Primary, General, and Special Election Ballots, as well as any legislation of special interest to the Lincoln Club. Meets first Tuesday of the month at 5:15 p.m at the offices of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, 3161 Michelson Drive, 12th Floor, Irvine. Chairman: Michael Reynolds.
Local Elections Committee
The Local Elections Committee fosters volunteer participation in local city elections. Members are encouraged to become familiar with city issues, elected officials, and prospective candidates. During local elections, the Local Elections Committee conducts impartial candidate assessments to determine which candidates the Club should endorse. In this effort, the Committee works closely with the Republican Party of Orange County. Meets the second Wednesday of each month at 8 am. Location: Farmers & Merchants Bank, 4695 MacArthur Blvd, Ste. 130, Newport Beach. Chairman: Dr. James Huang.
Programs Committee
The Program Committee is responsible for organizing breakfast, lunch and dinner programs held throughout the year for members, their spouses or guests, and guests who are interested in membership. The Program Committee has full responsibility for engaging the speakers, setting dates, and finalizing arrangements for the programs. A fee is collected for each event to cover costs. Meets on an as-needed basis. Chairman: David Bahnsen.
Immigration Reform Subcommittee
The Immigration Reform Subcommittee developed a policy statement on immigration reform that was adopted by the Club’s membership as the Club’s official position in 2011. The subcommittee is working to promote support for the position among lawmakers, grassroots groups, and opinion leaders, particularly among conservatives. The committee meets on the last Tuesday of the month at noon at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher. Chairwoman: Teresa Hernandez.
Healthcare Innovations Subcommittee
The job of the Healthcare Innovations Subcommittee is to develop recommendations for the Club’s position on what health care reform should entail, and those recommendations, likewise will be vetted through the Issues Committee before being recommended to the Board of Directors for an official Club position. This committee will meet on the third Tuesdays of the month starting at 6:30 p.m. at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Chairpersons: Dr. Marcy Zwelling and Dr. James Huang.
